Departmental Vision

The vision of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to be nationally recognized in imparting mechanical engineering education, leading to competent engineers who are skilled as industry-ready and fit for further studies.

Departmental Mission

  • β–  To educate, motivate, and prepare the students to acquire fundamental and technical skills in the Mechanical Engineering field through the teaching-learning process.
  • β–  To enhance student-industry interaction.
  • β–  To develop leadership qualities, interpersonal communication, and inculcate ethics, alongside an attitude of lifelong learning.

Programme Outcomes (POs):

  • PO1: Engineering Knowledge β€” Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to a wide range of practical procedures and practices. DK1 to DK4
  • PO2: Problem Analysis β€” Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems and reach substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity. DK1 to DK4
  • PO3: Design/Development of Solutions β€” Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist in the design of systems, components, or processes to meet specified needs, with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, as well as cultural, societal, and environmental factors. DK5
  • PO4: Investigation β€” Conduct investigations of well-defined problems by locating and searching relevant codes and catalogues, and by conducting standard tests and measurements. DK8
  • PO5: Modern Tool Usage β€” Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern computing, engineering and IT tools to well-defined engineering problems, while being aware of their limitations. DK2 and DK6
  • PO6: The Engineer and Society β€” When solving well-defined engineering problems, evaluate sustainable development impacts to: society, the economy, sustainability, health and safety, legal frameworks, and the environment. DK1, DK5, and DK7
  • PO7: Ethics & Diversity β€” Understand and commit to professional ethics and the norms of technician practice, including compliance with relevant laws. Demonstrate an understanding of the need for diversity and inclusion. DK9

A very warm welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Asansol Institute of Engineering and Management Polytechnic. The overall department vision is to implant mechanical engineering education leading to competent engineers who are skilled as industry ready and fit for further studies.
The department has well qualified and dedicated faculty members. The department strives to impart knowledge and training to students in latest technologies. Our training partners are TATA Power, Chandra Engineers, ARDENT, Bhandari Automobile, ECL, Super Smelters, etc.
The objective of the department is to prepare students for a successful career in Industry as well as Academics to meet the needs of growing technology. The department provides an opportunity for students to work as a team member or as a project leader on multidisciplinary projects. It provides students with a sound foundation in the mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyse engineering problems and to prepare them for higher studies.
After completion of the course our students gets placed in various brands like Ultratech, Shyam SEL, Super Smelters, TATA Power, JSW, Krishna Maruti, Tega Industries.
The department has well equipped lab facilities like Mechanical Workshop, Thermal engineering lab, Refrigeration and Air conditioning lab, Material Testing Lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, Advanced Manufacturing lab which includes CNC Lathe and many more.
For the overall development of the student; department of Mechanical engineering is associated with Memberships of professional bodies such as MTTF. We have many MoU’s with various industries like Tata Power, Chandra engineers, ARDENT, etc.
