Departmental Vision

To impart technical knowledge and skill for exploration, extraction and beneficiation of coal and minerals with due consideration to safety, conservation and environment for a sustainable development; along with generation of information of natural resources and importance of application of advanced technology for efficient mining of minerals, their proper utilization with utmost priority to save the mother nature.

Departmental Mission

  1. To produce top class mining engineer’s best fit for industry through relevant and extensive theoretical and practical learning exposures.
  2. To inculcate an ethical professional character in students for promoting and practicing mining engineering in social interests.
  3. To provide state of the art knowledge and training for excelling in globally competitive mining and mineral sectors for accepting technical challenges.
  4. To induce analytical ability of the young brains for contribution in the futuristic areas of mining through research and development (R&D).
  5. To build up institute-industry relationship by innovation, incubation and emerging entrepreneurship.


Programme Outcomes (POs):

  • PO1: Engineering Knowledge — Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to a wide range of practical procedures and practices. DK1 to DK4
  • PO2: Problem Analysis — Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems and reach substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity. DK1 to DK4
  • PO3: Design/Development of Solutions — Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist in the design of systems, components, or processes to meet specified needs, with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, as well as cultural, societal, and environmental factors. DK5
  • PO4: Investigation — Conduct investigations of well-defined problems by locating and searching relevant codes and catalogues, and by conducting standard tests and measurements. DK8
  • PO5: Modern Tool Usage — Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern computing, engineering and IT tools to well-defined engineering problems, while being aware of their limitations. DK2 and DK6
  • PO6: The Engineer and Society — When solving well-defined engineering problems, evaluate sustainable development impacts to: society, the economy, sustainability, health and safety, legal frameworks, and the environment. DK1, DK5, and DK7
  • PO7: Ethics & Diversity — Understand and commit to professional ethics and the norms of technician practice, including compliance with relevant laws. Demonstrate an understanding of the need for diversity and inclusion. DK9

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)
The students are expected to obtain the following programme educational objectives after the completion of the course:

  1. Apply knowledge of mining engineering to extract coal and minerals keeping in view of the safety, conservation and economical aspects.
  2. Work effectively with other engineering and scientific teams as a team member or leader in multidisciplinary projects.
  3. Actively participate in holistic development by fulfilling the energy needs of community, society and the nation.

It’s my great pleasure to welcome and thank you for joining AIEM-P, Asansol. This is a premier institute of the Eastern India offering Diploma courses. Mining Engineering branch was introduced form 2019 with a motive to fulfill the industry need of technically skilled mining personnel of the region. The mining department of the institute has all facilities along with highly qualified and experienced faculties. Students get Vocational and PDPT training in the mines of ECL, BCCL, ICML, DVC etc,. Passed out students of Diploma in Mining Engineering course gets variety of job opportunity in Government and Private sectors.
