Mining Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the science, technology and application of extracting and processing minerals from a natural environment. Mining Engineers are responsible for locating natural reserves of minerals, petroleum, and other useful natural resources and lay out the plans, device shafts, inclines or quarries for the safe extraction of these resources from under the earth. The academic programme includes not just grounding in basic engineering sciences but also a fair amount of theoretical and practical training in the different aspects of mining engineering, metallurgy and geology, Planning, design, construction, operation, & maintenance of mines, their safety, & excavating & transport of minerals.
' The course is beneficial to prepare for entrance into the mining engineering profession, as well as provide a good background for more-specialized studies or advanced administrative positions.
' Candidates have many options regarding a career in mining from operations engineer to mine manager, mine designer, health and safety manager, consulting engineer, sales engineer etc.
' The course is helpful to train students to acquire knowledge in the areas of mining engineering processes, systems and technologies.
All five Diploma courses offered at AIEM-P follow a common curriculum for the first year, consisting of basic sciences, maths, technical drawing, Mechanics, communications, and some workshop modules. This structure can be found under "curriculum" of the Basic Science and Humanities section on this website.
